After the death of my wife, I am a reclusive, solitary old man. I hardly talk to people anymore, but suddenly I want to see another light in another place.
I consulted with the vet clinic about my cat.
It is less stressful for your cat to be left at home for a night or two, rather than having to leave it somewhere. If you are really worried, please contact us again. The doctor said.
With three toilets, two automatic feeders and a siphon water bowl for the cat who stays at home, I set off on a short trip.

As I watched the evening light, I thought about 'kagemachi', a fragment of a story I had been writing since around the year before last.
The title has a double meaning.
A city of shadows and a person waiting for the coming of shadows (i.e. death).
As horror has become completely tiresome, the story is about the encounter between a boy and a girl, albeit in an eerie setting.
To the west of the city where the story takes place, there is a sea surrounded by two capes, and the surnames of the indigenous people include the letter west.
Nishiumi, Nishikawa, Nishida, Nishino, Nishiyama...
Naturally, the names of those who moved to the town or transferred to the school do not have the letter Nishi in their names. They all lived in the town for a while and then unexpectedly went away again. These strangers disappear from the memories of the people of the town as if they had never been there in the first place.
A boy and a grown-up girl in the same grade are also such strangers.
When they meet, they explore the strange town, which seems to have been left behind in time, and discuss their future days...

I was toying with this and that in my mind about such a story,
I was staring at the evening light, which I had not been able to see since my wife's death.
